
What is Unfurl / At Tennis?
Unfurl is the trading name of At Tennis, we are a Wellness and Social Club based in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg.
Unfurl is a place to come together to move, connect, learn, play and unwind. Through social tennis, tennis programming, wellness markets, meet-ups and other activities, we create a space where people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels can find their pace and enjoy being active.
Do I need to be a tennis player to join?
Not at all. Whether you’re completely new to tennis or have been playing for years, there’s a place for you at Unfurl. You can come to learn, play socially, meet people, stay active or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
Are you a tennis club?
Yes, we operate as both a Tennis Club and a Wellness and Social Club.
Tennis is at the heart of what we do, but Unfurl is also about creating a broader space for people to play, socialise, learn new skills, discover wellness experiences and enjoy being part of a community.
Where are you based?
We are based at the Blairgowrie Tennis Club in Johannesburg.
Our address is Coborn Road and Kenworthy Circle, Blairgowrie, Randburg, Johannesburg.
Do I need to be a member of the Tennis Club to participate?
No. You do not need to be a member to participate in Unfurl’s activities or book a lesson.
Are your coaches qualified?
Yes. Our Head Coach holds an ITF (International Tennis Federation) Level 2 Advanced Players Certification and is a Tennis South Africa (TSA) Pro Coach. Our coaching team also holds various Tennis South Africa qualifications.
I’m a complete beginner. Can I join?
Absolutely. You don’t need any previous experience to get started. Our programmes cater for different ages, abilities and levels of experience, so you can learn at your own pace.
I’m an experienced player. Do your offerings cater for me?
Absolutely. We have offerings for players at all levels, from those picking up a racquet for the first time to experienced players looking to sharpen their game, play socially or connect with other players.
What activities do you offer?
Our offerings include social tennis, tennis coaching and programming, wellness markets, meet-ups and a growing range of community and wellness experiences.
We’re also building a community around shared interests, with plans for groups and gatherings such as book clubs, plant clubs, yoga and other social interest groups.

How do I book?

Do I need to bring my own tennis racquet?
Not necessarily. Racquets and other tennis equipment are available to rent from us. Please let us know when making your booking if you’ll need one.
If you’re new to tennis, we’re happy to help you find the right racquet when you’re ready to get your own.
Can I book more than one lesson a week?
Absolutely. You can book as many sessions as your schedule and availability allow. Simply check the booking platform for available times.
What is a private lesson?
A private lesson is a one-on-one session with a coach, tailored to your individual goals, level and areas of development.
What is a semi-private lesson?
A semi-private lesson allows you to train with one or more people while still receiving focused coaching. Each person attending pays for their own session.
When do I need to make payment?
Payment is required before your lesson or session in order to confirm your booking, and can be made directly and securely on our booking site. Once payment has been received, your booking will be confirmed.
Do you offer social tennis?
Yes. Social tennis is an important part of the experience we want to offer our community. It’s an opportunity to play, meet people and enjoy tennis in a relaxed, social environment — whether you’re a regular player or looking to get back on court.
Do you host events and meet-ups?
Yes. We host and participate in various meet-ups, events and social activities throughout the year. These may include tennis and pickleball sessions, community gatherings, holiday programmes and other experiences.

Do you offer holiday programmes?
Yes. We offer holiday programmes and special activities from time to time. Have a look at our Kids Club on our booking site, itruns throughout the year, including during school holidays, and is a fun way for kids to stay active, try new things and make new friends.

Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. You don’t need to come with a group or already know people at Unfurl. Our social sessions and meet-ups are designed to create opportunities to meet people, play and connect.
Is Unfurl only for adults?
No. Unfurl is designed to welcome people across different ages and stages of life. The activities available will vary, so please check the booking platform for sessions that are suitable for you or your child.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. For tennis, appropriate sportswear and suitable court shoes are recommended.
What if I’ve never played tennis before?
That’s exactly what we’re here for. You can start from wherever you are, learn at your own pace and enjoy the process. No experience is required for beginner-friendly sessions.
